A calm, light-filled studio in Lomazzo, halfway between Milan and Como, overlooking the greenery of a restored cotton mill.
Sage and taupe tones, light wood, a full kitchen and a bed you actually sleep well in. Self check-in, a private garage, and the station just around the corner. I’m Elia, and I look after guests myself.
The history
The cotton mill
The building is part of the former Somaini cotton mill, opened in 1893 and grown to employ around 1,300 people, with a workers’ village and a kindergarten beside the factory. It closed in the early 1970s, and I knew it as a child as a huge abandoned building, beautiful and silent. In 2010 it was reborn as ComoNExT, and today the red-brick halls hold offices, cafés, a gym and people enjoying these spaces again.
Why “Tea”
Tea is short for Mattea, my grandmother. She lived in Lomazzo and was always warm and welcoming, someone who loved walking around town, having breakfast in the cafés and being among people. The apartment carries her name because I would like everyone who arrives here to feel as welcome as they did with her.
